Emmegail of emmegail’s bookshelf – “home of an obsessed bibliophile” – has generously passed me an award called “One Lovely Blog”. Her own blog features a mix of new fiction and beloved standards that encompass several genres. I particularly appreciated her comments about the harrowing The Boy In The Striped Pajamas (I have only seen the film adaptation), and the fun detour of providing a breathtakingly rich cupcake recipe to sustain hungry readers ;-) Thank you, emmegail!
The award comes with the rule of bestowing it on fifteen other blogs you have recently discovered. Now I understand that some bloggers prefer not to participate (I considered that option myself), and so please don’t feel obligated to respond in any way if I mention you here. I was not able to fulfill the request for fifteen new discoveries as I am only slowly building my favourites list (some of which can be found on the About page). Nevertheless, I would like to pass on the "One Lovely Blog" award to the following, with thanks for many hours of entertainment, inspiration, and instructive thought:
- Katherine at A Girl Walks Into A Bookstore for highlighting many unfashionable vintage novels as well as a wide selection of historical fiction in a concise yet insightful manner.
- Marg at The Adventures Of An Intrepid Reader for her engaging posts and friendly responsiveness to readers who comment on her blog.
- Misfit at At Home With A Good Book And The Cat for her frank and detailed views about books old and new, particularly historical fiction and romances. (Extra points for her remarks about The Pillars Of The Earth, although I don't think it is quite one of the worst novels ever written!)
- AnimeJune at Gossamer Obsessions for her unique review format and well-argued opinions.
- Nan Hawthorne’s Historical Blogs: Fiction And Fact, which provides a regularly updated, inspiring list of blogs that deal with history in one form or an other.
- Blonde Unicorn at Romance Reviews by Alice for her balanced assessments of a rapidly growing collection of historical romances.
- Heidenkind at Truth, Beauty, Freedom, and Books for her creativity in using music and videos as tools in discussing an appealing variety of novels.
The rules for the "One Lovely Blog" award are as follows:
-
(If you) accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link.
-
Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you've newly discovered.
-
Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know that they have been chosen for this award.
